ART VAN FURNITURE HOSTS OPEN JOB FAIR FOR RETURNING VETERANS
Michigan’s Top Furniture Retailer Joins American Society of Employers for Epic Event

WARREN, MI – Offering an opportunity to the over 3,000 Michigan veterans who will be returning home from service during the Iraq and Afghan conflicts, Art Van Furniture will sponsor a massive job fair that includes dozens of major Michigan employers, such as Compuware, DTE Energy, Ford Motor Company, Oakwood Healthcare and Wayne State University.  Organized by the American Society of Employers, the event will take place on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 9:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. 

“For these brave men and women who have given so much, we owe a great debt of gratitude, and an opportunity to have a job to help them return to civilian life,” says Kim Yost, CEO of Art Van Furniture.  “This is a time we show our returning veterans and their families how much we appreciate their sacrifices and how glad we are to have them home.”

Michigan has the third largest population of veterans in the United States.  Art Van Furniture is inviting all major Michigan businesses to participate in this occasion.

“Although we are sponsoring the event, other companies will benefit as well,” adds Yost.  “We believe that employing returning veterans in any capacity at any company is good for our community and something we at Art Van see as our responsibility to support.”

As Michigan’s largest furniture retailer, Art Van Furniture currently employs over 3,000 associates.  It will offer a variety of jobs at the event, including sales associates, drivers, warehouse workers and customer service representatives to mention a few.

The Returning Veterans Job Fair, sponsored by Art Van Furniture, will be held at the Southfield Pavilion, located at 26000 Evergreen Road in Southfield, Michigan.
